Report of the meeting of the Parish Council of Castle Hedingham held on Wednesday, 17th June 2009 issued by the Clerk

Highways -  Problems continue to be reported in respect of parking in Falcon square and adjoining streets, particularly long term double parking; this would cause serious problems for emergency vehicular access. The matter is to be reported to local police officers for enforcement action.

Graveyard - A faculty authorising work to repair two tombs has been granted by the Chelmsford Diocese and displayed for the required time. The contractor commissioned will be instructed to commence works.

Allotments - A landowner in the village is offering to establish allotments on land in the village subject to necessary contract arrangements etc being established.

Flooding in Sible Hedingham in February - A meeting was held on 1st June 2009 with the Environmental Agency, the local MP and other bodies concerned to discuss this issue. A number of outcomes were identified and the Environment Agency is to write to give the results of flood risk management and any actions planned by it for the River Colne. The Environment Agency has said that work to clear vegetation, fallen trees debris along the River Colne from Gt Yeldham to Halstead is planned to commence in July 2009 after the end of the bird nesting season.
