Queen Street Traffic Calming – The Health and Safety Audit of this scheme has now been undertaken and a report received from Essex County Council. It was agreed that additional hatching will be installed.
Crouch Green Parking/ Primrose Lines, Majendie Lane - The Parish Council noted that the official order from Essex County Council relating to these matters had been received and will come into force in due course.
Braintree District Council Waste and Recycling Collections – The Parish Council discussed the introduction of wheelie bins. Braintree District Council do not plan to implement the scheme in the conservation area as the roads are too narrow for the vehicles and many of the properties are not suitable for wheelie bins. A map of the exact area where the scheme will be implemented is being drawn up a copy of which will be provided to the Parish Council once finalised. A copy of the map will be given to each Councillor and displayed in the village notice boards. Those properties which are to be included will receive a leaflet explaining the scheme and giving details of who to contact at the District Council with questions and concerns when the next supply of bin bags are delivered. The District Council is committed to undertaking as much consultation as possible to ensure all residents are fully informed and supported. It was reported that the District Council are providing the scheme to support increased recycling and it has proved to be very successful where it has already been implemented in the district.
Application 06/00807/FUL – Erection of single storey rear extension and detached play room building for family use - 22 Church Ponds, Castle Hedingham – it was noted this application had been refused by Braintree District Council.
Application 06/01317/FUL - Demolition of existing garage and erection of 1 no. one bedroom bungalow - Land Rear of 26 Nunnery Street, Castle Hedingham – The Parish Council do not object to the application in principle but would like to see different materials used: slate for the roof rather that concrete and soft red bricks rather than Stocks – this will ensure the development is in keeping with the area.
Application 06/01267/LBC - Removal of partition wall in dining room and insertion of two low profile roof lights in kitchen ceiling - 8 Pye Corner, Castle Hedingham; Application 06/01373/COU - Change of use of land for the temporary stationing of 2 No. portakabin buildings - Land to the rear of Memories, Crouch Green, Castle Hedingham and Application 06/01380/FUL - Erection of two semi-detached dwellings and carports- Land adjoining 16 Crown Street, Castle Hedingham – These applications had only just been received and are being considered by the Planning Committees.
Cemetery - A letter had been received complementing the Parish Council for the way the cemetery is maintained. A copy of this letter has been passed to the grass cutting contractor and Mr Carr.
Dog Bin - A new dog waste bin will be installed in Hoe Lane to address problems with dog waste in the area.
Venue for meetings - The Police had contacted the Parish Council to advise that the Police Station is to be put on the open market shortly and the Parish Council will no longer be able to meet in the Courthouse. Castle Hedingham Club have kindly agreed that Parish Council can meet in the Club from the August meeting.
Sudbury Hill – Councillors discussed the possibility of extending the footway on Sudbury Hill from the houses to Rosemary Lane. It was agreed that this was a well used stretch of road and a request to extend the footway should be made to Essex County Council .
Electricity Pole, Castle Lane - This will be replaced in September and the cables put underground.
Churchyard - It was agreed to organise a working party in September to carry out maintenance in the Churchyard and that as the bed that runs along side Church Lane is overgrown again it should be cleared and sown with grass seed.
