Report of the meeting of the Parish Council of Castle Hedingham held on Wednesday, 14th January 2009 issued by the Clerk

Memorial Hall Window: The stone work has been completed to a good standard and the glazing work is in hand.

Traffic Issues: Speed gun will be deployed in January.  The Parish Council is investigating options for operation of a speed indicator sign on the B1058 at the bottom of Sudbury Hill.

Churchyard Footpath: Church authorities have approved the proposed repairs; a faculty is now awaited.  Once received contractors will be engaged.

War Memorial: The Parish Council has received initial opinion on options for restoration of the memorial.  Expert advice on options is now being sought as well as details of grants that may be available to fund any works.

Post Office: A meeting has been arranged with the Post Office to discuss options to re-open a sub post office service in the village.

Budget:  The Parish Council has agreed to an increase in its budget for the year 2009/10 of 2.5%.

Highways:  The Parish Council is actively pursuing a number of concerns with the County Council including gully cleaning, potholes in Rosemary Lane, and hazardous running water on Great Maplestead lane, near Coppingdown Farm.

Graveyard:  Two tombs have been identified that are in a hazardous condition.   Quotes for necessary remedial works are being obtained.

Crime:  Over the Christmas period there have been no crimes/incidents of concern in the village.
